Treat recovery as a tested process.
HostIncharge backup options are add-ons; every critical workload should also have an independent recovery copy.
Define what must be recovered
List operating-system configuration, application code, secrets, databases, uploaded files, and external dependencies. Set a tolerable data-loss window and recovery time for each workload.
Use independent copies
Do not rely on the live VPS or a single provider-side copy as the only backup. Keep at least one recovery copy outside the server and protect backup credentials separately from production credentials.
Choose retention deliberately
Select backup frequency and retention based on how often data changes and how long corruption or deletion might go unnoticed. Backup add-on pricing and retention are confirmed before activation.
Test restores
A completed backup job does not prove recoverability. Restore representative data on a schedule, verify integrity and permissions, and record the steps and duration.
During an incident
Stop destructive changes, preserve logs and timestamps, identify the last known good point, and contact support with the affected service and concise timeline. Never include passwords or private keys.
